4Runner (2003-2009)

Ride Shocks for the 2003–2009 Toyota 4Runner are engineered around this generation's coil-spring rear suspension and specific weight distribution — a fundamentally different platform than the leaf-sprung Tacoma. Complete kits are matched to your 4Runner's trim and accessory load for correct lift height and ride quality from install.

FITMENT & KDSS NOTES
Complete kits for this generation include front 2.5" coilovers, rear shocks, and Ride Shocks rear coil springs available in multiple lift heights and weight ranges. 4Runners equipped with the Kinetic Dynamic Suspension System (KDSS) require specific shock configurations and spacers to function correctly at lifted heights — our KDSS-compatible packages include everything needed and are clearly marked. If you're unsure whether your 4Runner has KDSS, look for hydraulic tubes along the front lower control arms.

Every 4Runner Ride Shock includes our 12-click Dual Piston Adjuster for independent high- and low-speed compression control, and every complete kit is guaranteed to work together as a system.

View All FAQs
Do I need UCAs for my 4Runner lift?

For lifts over 2" or when using extended travel coilovers, aftermarket UCAs are strongly recommended. Our complete kits include AccuTune Offroad UCAs.

Are FJ Cruiser and 4Runner suspension parts interchangeable?

The 2007–2009 FJ Cruiser shares front suspension geometry with the 2003–2009 4Runner and many shock SKUs fit both. Always verify using the fitment guide on each product page before ordering.

What does the DPA adjuster do and how do I use it?

The DPA gives you 12-click independent control of high-speed and low-speed compression. Low speed controls body motion over gradual bumps. High speed controls response to sharp hits. Both ship at fully open (softest) setting — adjust by hand only.

What warranty do Ride Shocks carry?

Every Ride Shock comes with a 3-year / 50,000-mile warranty.

Can I add Ride Shocks components to an existing lift?

Yes — if you already have aftermarket UCAs or leaf springs you want to retain, you can order individual Ride Shocks front coilovers or rear shocks. Contact us with your current setup and we'll help you select the right weight range and configuration.
